Who Are You Not Compatible With?

Introduction

Who are you not compatible with? You know, you come across theories like Gemini cannot go along with Scorpio, Scorpio cannot go along with anyone. That's a very high-level analysis.

If you have to do it this way, that you want a simplified version of who are you not compatible with, it might be a good idea to look at the Moon Nakshatra and Moon sign. This astrological screen is not a verdict.

Start with Moon, not sign pairings

I'm going to share a table within which you'd find all Moon Nakshatras mentioned. So you look at your Moon Nakshatra and see who are you not compatible with within this method. I'll get to that table, but first I want to introduce the compatibility methodology behind it.

Guna Milap and Nadi Dosha

The concept is called Guna Milap. This is a compatibility analysis that has been done as per Vedic astrology. And I think it has a bit of history. The first parameter within this compatibility methodology is called Nadi Dosha.

So the ones who are involved in Ayurveda might know about Nadi. I describe Nadi as a body-composition type and say every human being has one. What would be the type of that Dosha? There are three possibilities: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These are the three body-type compositions in my explanation.

An astrology Nadi category is not a medical diagnosis.

The three Nadi types

What happens is, if two individuals who are in a relationship come together and have the same Nadi Dosha—for example, one has Kapha and the other also has Kapha—then it's likely that they may not be able to start a family. Therefore Nadi Dosha was given maximum points whilst conducting a compatibility analysis. Because generally, the source looks at a relationship in order to start a family. Not being able to start a family is then said to affect the longevity of the relationship.

Those are traditional claims, not fertility facts; not every relationship is formed to have children.

What are these three Doshas? Pitta, for example, symbolises the fire energy, this restlessness, being intense and having a body type more hot, and therefore foods recommended as per Ayurveda are the ones that have a cooling impact on us. So that's the source's Ayurveda explanation.

As far as compatibility is concerned, my view is that you should consider marrying someone who has a different Nadi type. Kapha can go along with Vata or Pitta. And the probability that the two people might have the same Nadi is one by three. So in effect, you are compatible with two-thirds of the Nakshatras once you've identified your Moon Nakshatra.

That fraction is category arithmetic, not fertility evidence.

Check the fifth house without diagnosis

This is the first test and an important one in my view. If you discover there's Nadi Dosha in your relationship, you must also take into account the strength of the fifth house in your charts. If the fifth house has Saturn or Ketu positioned there in the main chart or the Navamsha, in your chart, your partner's chart or in the charts of both of you, and there's also Nadi Dosha, I treat that as added concern about starting a family.

It is not confirmation: astrology cannot diagnose infertility or predict whether a couple can have children.

The 2–12 Bhakoot distance

The other important test that's done is Bhakoot Dosha. That translates to the distance Moon signs are having in your charts. How far away is your partner's Moon sign from your chart? If your Moon sign is Libra and your partner's sign is Virgo, then there's a 2–12 Bhakoot Dosha.

From Virgo to Libra, the second position from Virgo would be Libra. And from Libra, if you count in the anticlockwise direction, Virgo would be the twelfth sign. This 2–12 Bhakoot Dosha leads to physical distance in the relationship that can be quite complicated in the source's interpretation.

So you might have a cordial relationship with your partner, you might be very keen to build a future with that person, but due to circumstances there's this physical distance. Probably you're living in different cities, or one person has to travel far away, or circumstances may not allow shared common activities regularly. There'll always be some distance between the two of you. So if you have Nadi Dosha and 2–12 Bhakoot Dosha, compatibility seems not very promising within this method.

The 6–8 Bhakoot pattern

Similar Bhakoot Dosha is 6–8. If, for example, your sign is Gemini and your partner's sign is Scorpio—and I'm referring to the Moon sign—Moon sign Gemini and Moon sign Scorpio will have a 6–8 Dosha. Compatibility based in Vedic astrology by the method called Guna Milap is based on the positions of Moon.

The sign of Scorpio would be the sixth sign, and from Scorpio to Gemini would be the eighth sign. What that leads to is a bit of misfortune in the source's interpretation. What kind of misfortune has to be seen from the two charts collectively, but this is not ideal. If you have Nadi Dosha and 6–8, things can get complicated in this relationship and therefore the match is not promising within the method.

The 5–9 Bhakoot pattern

Similarly, there's a 5–9 Bhakoot Dosha. Once again, it's linked to the possibility of being able to start a family. So if you have Nadi Dosha and 5–9 Dosha—for example, if one has the Moon sign as Libra and the other person has the Moon sign as Aquarius—there'll be a 5–9 Bhakoot Dosha. Again, in my view, this is not ideal.

That is a traditional claim, not a fertility finding.

Use the recovered Nakshatra table

What I've done for you in this table—this is the one I was referring to right at the beginning—is put all the Moon Nakshatras on the left. I'm going to slowly scroll through them, and then you have three columns. These three columns represent the Moon Nakshatras of your potential partners with whom you'd have Nadi plus Bhakoot Dosha.

The first one is Nadi plus 2–12 Bhakoot Dosha. Second is Nadi and 6–8 Bhakoot Dosha, and the third is Nadi plus 5–9 Bhakoot Dosha. The first one, in my view, is most difficult: lack of possibility of childbirth and then physical distance.

You'd find with every Moon Nakshatra there'll be five to six Nakshatras with whom you're likely to be incompatible, in my view. The visible count varies, so the table takes precedence over that shorthand. If your partner has a Moon Nakshatra not in that list, then naturally that's a good sign. The list is not a verdict.

Compare Moon-sign rulers

The next thing you can do is to study the Moon-sign rulers and their friendliness. So there's a bit of a checklist. We've gone through the first checklist now, Nadi plus Bhakoot Dosha, and your partner wasn't there in that table. The second test is Moon-sign rulers and their relationship.

Again, let's take the example: if one person has the Moon sign as Gemini and the other has Aries, then the Moon-sign rulers are Mercury and Mars respectively. Given the lack of friendliness Mercury and Mars share between one another in the source's reading, it's likely this can lead to a relationship where there might be arguments.

The friendship classification is not fully reciprocal. So if you've gone beyond the first test, maybe on the friendliness scale it may not be a deal breaker, but it might be something you would like to take into account before thinking of building your entire life with that person.

Compare marriage timing

The next thing you must do is match time of marriage. Now, this is an important exercise. If you're dating in your twenties, and if you find your partner has many combinations linked to late marriage, which could be linked to Saturn or Ketu, but in your chart you don't find any main indications of late marriage, there might be a bit of a mismatch. Your partner in this case is more likely to marry much later than you.

And also you can look into the Dashas. If you're about to enter a promising time for marriage in 2030 and your partner isn't, then there can be a bit of a mismatch there. The 2030 example is hypothetical.

Compatibility based on Moon Nakshatra and Moon sign is important. Then you also look at whether the two of you are meant to have a similar journey in regards to when you're going to tie the knot.

Compare partner profiles

Similarly, you must also take into account the profile of your partner from your chart. So if your chart is suggesting your partner might have a background in the healthcare industry, but your partner is not working in healthcare or not even remotely linked to the healthcare sector, perhaps not even in social welfare, then there can be a bit of a mismatch. So profiles need to be matched.

You can see who you are meant to be with in this method. Similarly, you can also see who your partner is meant to be with, and do the profiles match?

Find a common difficult Dasha

Coming back to the Dasha table, one exercise that's often overlooked is the possibility of having a common difficult time together. So if in one's birth chart you find Saturn, Rahu, Ketu and Mars-like planets in the marriage house, and the person is meant to go through that Dasha in 2031, and you yourself are also having difficult positions in the marriage house, then you may also go through a difficult planetary Dasha.

For example, Ketu's in the marriage house in your chart and you're entering Ketu's Mahadasha in this example in 2031. It's likely there might be a flashpoint in this relationship, which can make the relationship very difficult in the source's reading. This is hypothetical.

You may have difficult planets in the house of marriage when you shouldn't go through a difficult time phase together, or it can lead to difficult circumstances. Practical safety always takes priority.

Prepare through foreknowledge

I know you might be wondering: you can't check on everything. But it's an important decision. If you have a few pointers—what kind of a relationship are you meant to have, what can be possible difficulties, when those difficulties might arise and how long those difficulties are going to stay—maybe you have a better state of preparedness.

So when you know there's something difficult going on, you also know it's going to come to an end. Ultimately, it depends on how strongly you are fond of each other. If you have this strong bond, then you know, okay, we'll have an 18-month time phase five or six years later; we think we'll be able to manage it. This is hypothetical.

If that's the attitude, then absolutely great. But you must be aware of these circumstances in advance. Maybe it helps you prepare better.

Check cultural or background differences

Coming back to a partner's profile, you may also take into account if your partner is meant to have some foreignness about them. For example, your partner might belong to a different culture or background, or you might prefer a relationship outside what was expected as conventional. So if you have these combinations but your partner doesn't, then there also seems to be a bit of a mismatch in the source's method.

Difference is not a defect.

Finish with full-chart synastry

Now lastly, you can also take into account—and this is an important exercise—all the planets in your partner's chart and place them on top of your chart. If, for example, you have Mars in the sign of Gemini and your partner has Rahu in the sign of Gemini, then that's a sign that this relationship is likely to manifest in some manner, because Mars and Rahu's energy, they ‘lead to the future’ in this interpretation.

So there is likely to be some future there in my view. Or if, for example, one has Mars in Aries and your partner has Venus in Aries, then there can be mutual attraction in this relationship. So both of you can be drawn to one another.

How your partner's planets affect your chart, and with which planets in your chart are they interacting, can determine the strengths and weaknesses of this relationship in this method. These are the entire list of parameters I think you can take into account before you take that important decision whether you should build your future with your partner.
