Ashlesha Nakshatra

Ashlesha is one of the most fascinating Nakshatras. It is very different from Pushya and Punarvasu, the other two Nakshatras in Cancer. As per mythology, Ashlesha is ruled by Lord Vasuki, the king of the serpents. We often attach a negative connotation to serpents, but we must understand this through mythology.

In the Bhagavad Gita, while explaining his role to Lord Arjuna, Lord Krishna says that among the serpents he is Lord Vasuki. He also says that among the Pandavas he is Lord Arjuna and gives several other examples. The point is that Lord Krishna regarded Lord Vasuki as the king of the serpents, and Lord Vasuki rules this Nakshatra. During the churning of the ocean, Lord Vasuki's body helped the gods and demons churn it. Lord Vishnu is also known to sit on the serpent Sheshnag, symbolising his close relationship with the serpents.

Similarly, Lord Shiva, or Lord Rudra, carries a snake around his neck. Serpents share a close relationship with the gods. Ashlesha therefore possesses the Sattvic guna, a selfless quality. Its methods may be extreme, but in most cases its intention is likely to be selfless.

Venus in Ashlesha

When Venus is in Ashlesha, you would have the most magnetic personality. You'll be very attractive and in relationships, you'll find yourself holding on to relationships longer than they are good for you. Romance is great but practicality is very important and your judgment in relationships is likely to be clouded. You may instantly like someone and having done so, you may feel, oh, I shouldn't have done it.

I shouldn't have liked someone so quickly. On a mental plane, you're likely to burden yourself by reacting quickly. This can be a difficult position as I believe your attractive personality would lead to you attracting partners easier than other planet-Nakshatra combinations. But you may also not make the best decisions in relationships.

Again, practicality would be the key. If you'd like to do something creative, your creations are going to be the most captivating. I had earlier given you the example of Michael Jackson, who has Venus in Ashlesha. Your creations are going to leave others spellbound.

Within the finance sector, you'd excel at jobs requiring managing risks. You'll always have an eye on how things are changing in the markets and you'll build your risk management strategy accordingly. Even in personal finance, I think you manage money really well. You might even fear not having enough, not being able to pay the rent, not being able to buy groceries and that unjust fear at times might make you an excellent manager of money.

You may become an expert in personal finance. Venus in Ashlesha can lead to you becoming sexually very active. Venus is all about seeking pleasure and Ashlesha is directly linked to sexuality. Everything in moderation, you need to control this side to your personality.

Venus is known to be excellent at building relationships and this Nakshatra is known for its changeability. Professions that require that flexibility, like someone working in foreign affairs, so you move from one country to the other, you need to change your mannerisms in accordance with the country you're going to. You need to change your manner of speaking or your manner of behaving according to that country's culture. This is a great example.

Similarly, if you're working as a human resources manager, there you deal with employees who come from different backgrounds, so you manage them accordingly based on their culture. You change your relationship with them according to where they are coming from. You are going to be extremely flexible and that's a quality you're going to possess. Lastly, you can be a very loyal partner.

I had earlier mentioned that you'll have to remain practical, not go to extremes, and not decide too quickly. Despite all of this, I think you'll make a very loyal, committed partner. As this Nakshatra is known for loyalty, if you go back to the story I had shared with you earlier of Lakshman protecting Lord Rama, that's the story I'm referring to.
