Ashlesha Nakshatra

Ashlesha is one of the most fascinating Nakshatras. It is very different from Pushya and Punarvasu, the other two Nakshatras in Cancer. As per mythology, Ashlesha is ruled by Lord Vasuki, the king of the serpents. We often attach a negative connotation to serpents, but we must understand this through mythology.

In the Bhagavad Gita, while explaining his role to Lord Arjuna, Lord Krishna says that among the serpents he is Lord Vasuki. He also says that among the Pandavas he is Lord Arjuna and gives several other examples. The point is that Lord Krishna regarded Lord Vasuki as the king of the serpents, and Lord Vasuki rules this Nakshatra. During the churning of the ocean, Lord Vasuki's body helped the gods and demons churn it. Lord Vishnu is also known to sit on the serpent Sheshnag, symbolising his close relationship with the serpents.

Similarly, Lord Shiva, or Lord Rudra, carries a snake around his neck. Serpents share a close relationship with the gods. Ashlesha therefore possesses the Sattvic guna, a selfless quality. Its methods may be extreme, but in most cases its intention is likely to be selfless.

Saturn in Ashlesha

Saturn Ashlesha makes an excellent long-term strategic planner. In life however you may find yourself entangled in a long-term issue. Particularly if you're going through Saturn's AntarDasha for example. That issue can be from the government sector specifically as Saturn and Sun, with Sun representing the government, do not share a great relationship.

You can also be a master technician particularly where you are building something. You're using your technical skills in combination with your intelligence like building a machine learning algorithm. That's a very Saturn Ashlesha like creation. It's long term, it's ever evolving, becoming better.

That is what Saturn is all about. Saturn represents following traditions and being more conservative whereas Ashlesha represents the caste of an outcast. It might be that you're following a tradition which is no longer followed by anyone. Or you are conservative in your thinking about certain aspects of the society on which others have moved on.

You feel no we shouldn't be doing this but others have moved on. They say this is from the past. Don't get stuck up on that. Being stuck up on certain issues is going to be one of the main issues you might encounter if you have Saturn in Ashlesha.

Saturn is known to be a service provider and is known for empathy and this Nakshatra I had mentioned is directly linked to the field of psychology. Therefore the person can make an excellent healer particularly healing wounds which haven't healed for a long time. Someone's lost one's life partner in an accident. Their wound requires healing over a long time and a Saturn-Ashlesha-like person can provide the elixir.

My view of Saturn in Ashlesha is that you must not remain caught up in things. Be practical, keep moving, forgive and forget, and remain mindful of when you will go through Saturn's Dasha.
