Does your chart support a business?

Could you run a business one day? When we are working for someone else's company, many of us aspire to run a business ourselves. To see whether the chart supports that, we have to start with the Nakshatras.

Three merchant Nakshatras

If you have planets placed in the Nakshatras of Ashwini, Punarvasu or Hasta, there is every chance of you running a business. These three Nakshatras are classified as belonging to the caste of a merchant.

To do a quick scan, open your birth chart and click the rulers button to see the two-letter abbreviations of the Nakshatra names. If you are not familiar with those names, open the tabular view instead. Then look for any planet placed in one of these three Nakshatras. If you find one, I immediately see the potential to run a business.

Connect Nakshatra to career

Next, identify whether the planets in those Nakshatras have a relationship with the 6th, 10th or 11th house. They may be placed in one of those houses or rule one of them. These three houses are directly linked to your career.

You must extend this analysis to the Dashamsha chart. If, for example, you identify Mars in Hasta in the main chart and it falls in the 10th house in the Dashamsha, there is every possibility of you being an entrepreneur.

Houses of desire

The third thing to examine is the houses. The 3rd, 7th and 11th are the houses of desire and are directly linked to running a business. We run a business to make a name for ourselves, and we also run it for commercial reasons.

If the rulers of the career-related 6th, 10th and 11th houses fall in the 3rd, 7th or 11th house, that could also lead to you running a business. These are the three sets of combinations you can analyse in your chart.

Richard Branson's indicators

We can cross-check this theory against the birth charts of business leaders, starting with Richard Branson. He has the Sun in the 1st house in Punarvasu, one of the three merchant Nakshatras.

He also has Mars ruling the career-related 10th house and falling in the 3rd house in both the main chart and the D10 chart. Immediately, we can see three combinations showing that he can run a business.

Elon Musk's indicators

Elon Musk has Mercury in the 1st house in Punarvasu. Of all the planets, Mercury is directly linked to running a business. Mercury in the 1st house in Punarvasu is therefore a strong indication that the person has the potential to run a business.

In his case, Mars is in Dhanishtha. I have not included Dhanishtha among the three merchant Nakshatras, but it is directly linked to worldwide fame. In my view, that is the reason behind his technical skills and his fame.

Bill Gates: Mars and Hasta

Bill Gates has Mars ruling the 10th house and placed in the 3rd house. The 3rd house is linked to entrepreneurship, and Mars also falls in Hasta, one of the three merchant Nakshatras. I immediately see a business owner and an inventor of some kind.

Saturn, Swati and independence

There are other combinations you can discover in your birth chart. If Saturn falls in the 1st, 3rd or 10th house, there is every possibility of you being a resilient, self-made individual. That is a quality necessary for entrepreneurship.

If a planet is placed in Swati, that can also lead to a future as a freelancer or digital nomad. Together, these combinations can help you answer whether your chart supports your future as a business owner.
