Introduction

So could you run a business one day? That's a question many people have. When we are working for someone else's company, many have this aspiration to run a business ourselves. Does the chart support that possibility? We'll have to start off with the Nakshatras.

Three merchant Nakshatras

If in your chart you have planets placed in the Nakshatras of Ashwini, Punarvasu or Hasta, then in my view there is a possibility of you running a business, as these three Nakshatras are classified here as belonging to the merchant category. Merchant means archetype, not inherited status.

So how do you do that? Let's do a quick 30-second opening scan. Have a look at your birth chart's tabular view. You'll see the two-letter abbreviated versions of the Nakshatra names, if you're familiar with Nakshatra names. If you're not, don't worry. Do a quick scan. Do you find any of the planets placed in these three Nakshatras in this chart? If you do, immediately, in my view, I see that person has the potential to run a business—an indicator, not a complete answer.

Connect Nakshatra to career

The next thing you need to do is identify these planetary combinations. Planets in these three Nakshatras have, in this method, a relationship with the 6th, 10th or 11th house. What do I mean by that? They are either placed there in the 6th, 10th or 11th, or they are ruling one of them.

These three houses are directly linked to your career, and you must extend this analysis even to the D10 divisional chart. D10 needs accurate time and settings. This is a cross-check, not a verdict.

Houses of desire

The third thing you can do is look at the houses. The 3rd, 7th and 11th houses are grouped here as houses of desire and therefore, in my view, are linked to running a business. We run a business to make a name for ourselves. We also run it for commercial reasons. Those are examples, not universal motives. So these three houses are linked to running a business.

So if the rulers of the houses linked to your career, which would be the 6th, 10th and 11th, if these rulers fall in the 3rd, 7th or 11th house, that could also support you running a business. I've shared three sets of combinations you can analyse in your chart.

Richard Branson's indicators

Let's cross-check this theory against the birth charts of business leaders. I'm starting off with Richard Branson. In the 7:00 a.m. chart used here, he has Sun in the 1st house in Punarvasu. This is the one I've taken right at the beginning.

He also has Mars ruling the career house, the 10th house, and falling in the 3rd house in the main chart and D10 chart. Immediately, in my reading, you're seeing three combinations that support business potential. The D10 reading is time-sensitive.

Elon Musk's indicators

Let's have a look at Elon Musk's chart. Using the selected 7:30 a.m. chart, he also has Mercury in the 1st house in Punarvasu. Of all the planets, Mercury is directly linked to running a business in this method. So when Mercury is in the 1st in Punarvasu, that's a strong indication, in my view, that the person has the potential to run a business.

In his case, Mars is in Dhanishtha. I know I haven't spoken about Dhanishtha, but Dhanishtha is directly linked, in my reading, to worldwide fame. That, in my view, is linked with his technical skills and fame, not established causation.

Bill Gates: Mars and Hasta

I'd like to also share the example of Bill Gates. Have a look at his chart. In the 10:00 p.m. chart used here, he has Mars ruling the 10th and in the 3rd house.

The 3rd house is linked to entrepreneurship in this method, and Mars further falls in one of those three Nakshatras, Hasta. Immediately, in my reading, I see business-owner and inventive potential, not proof of either outcome.

Saturn, Swati and independence

There are other combinations also that you can discover in your birth chart. If, for example, Saturn is falling in the 1st, 3rd or 10th house in your chart, in my view there is a possibility of you being a resilient, self-made individual. That's a quality necessary for entrepreneurship in my view, not a guarantee.

And if you have a planet placed there in the Nakshatra Swati, that may support a future as a freelancer or digital nomad in this method.
