The healer who does not look conventional

Punarvasu Nakshatra

Punarvasu falls in the signs of Gemini and Cancer and, as per mythology, is ruled by Goddess Aditi. She is the mother of all the gods known to reside in the heavens. That is why this Nakshatra is the most maternal section of the sky.

Goddess Aditi provides food, shelter and protection. Healthcare, hospitality, housing and industries that protect society are therefore directly linked to Punarvasu. I would also add public transport: while travelling by bus, train or aeroplane, we can feel the comfort of home.

Airlines brand themselves as offering a home in the sky, with the same peace as your own living room. Trains convey a similar message. Many overnight trains offer a comfortable and cosy cabin for travelling from one part of the world to another. Public transport is directly linked to Punarvasu. The Indian Railways' slogan is “Lifeline of the Nation”.

Rahu in Punarvasu

Rahu in Punarvasu first suggests an unconventional healer. The methods, medicine or personality may be unconventional. We hear stories of someone healing a back problem using an oil that is unavailable elsewhere, or using hypnosis to relieve mental stress.

An unconventional healer is the first thing that comes to my mind, followed by a very smart businessperson. The smartness comes from Rahu, while Punarvasu is linked to the various industries listed earlier.

The person is going to be very fond of travel, very fond of meeting people from different cultures and learning different languages, particularly if the sign is Gemini. The person may say things which are intended to motivate and help people, but the person is also going to attract negative publicity for one's opinions. Like the person might say, oh, we need to stop relying on petrol and diesel and start using hydrogen. Let's use that.

Some people may like such an idea, while others may oppose it for different reasons. Rahu–Punarvasu can make a controversial opinion-maker, although the person's intention is to help.

But it's likely to be not very thought through and is likely to be open to other interpretations. The person may draw attention from both the positive and the negative side. In sacrificing oneself, the person can go to the extreme and may not have the right intentions. The person may want to benefit at a business level from a sacrifice one has made for the sake of the society.

That's Rahu's clever nature. Like the person or person's business has given away a large sum of money to charity, but the person is also very interested in getting that selfless act reported in the media. The business also benefits from that selfless act, which isn't now very selfless. That's the delusion Rahu can create if you have Rahu in Punarvasu.

Altogether, Rahu is going to do well in Punarvasu. All actions are going to be driven by Jupiter. I think Rahu does much better in Punarvasu than in many of the Nakshatras. That's my view.
