Punarvasu Nakshatra

Punarvasu falls in the signs of Gemini and Cancer and, as per mythology, is ruled by Goddess Aditi. She is the mother of all the gods known to reside in the heavens. That is why this Nakshatra is the most maternal section of the sky.

Goddess Aditi provides food, shelter and protection. Healthcare, hospitality, housing and industries that protect society are therefore directly linked to Punarvasu. I would also add public transport: while travelling by bus, train or aeroplane, we can feel the comfort of home.

Airlines brand themselves as offering a home in the sky, with the same peace as your own living room. Trains convey a similar message. Many overnight trains offer a comfortable and cosy cabin for travelling from one part of the world to another. Public transport is directly linked to Punarvasu. The Indian Railways' slogan is “Lifeline of the Nation”.

Ketu in Punarvasu

Ketu in Punarvasu, to me, is a combination belonging to someone who could have been a healer in a past life. The person may have a natural maternal side and intuitively understand: “This person needs care. This person needs my help. That friend needs attention.”

That person wants time. Ketu Punarvasu. Therefore the person can also have a career in psychology or consumer behaviour or even in the armed forces, studying the behaviour of different soldiers and offering help on a mental plane, helping soldiers deal with their anxieties. For example, Ketu has a lot to do with the armed forces.

The person can also have a background in espionage, intelligence services, where the person is analysing how society is behaving and what potential threats can be there to the society. Through the understanding, or should I say, through the intuitive understanding of how people think, the person can benefit the society in some ways. The person would be very fond of travel and very fond of living a life by oneself. The person would like to be in a place away from people known to the person and protecting people who are foreign to oneself.

We hear stories of a person travelling to a city and helping a young child from drowning. In some way, you may end up helping people who are unknown to you. The person can also be very knowledgeable about ancient medicines. Ketu does not have a self-identity, and Punarvasu's self-sacrificing nature can lead the person to go to the extreme and destroy one's own identity for a larger good.

That is likely to lead to self-destruction to some extent, like giving away all your money to charity. That is the side of Ketu Punarvasu the person needs to be more careful about. Ketu Punarvasu, I think, is an excellent position if you'd like to explore spirituality and search for answers within. I don't think a Ketu Punarvasu-like person would be very inclined to run a business and make a name and fame for oneself.

The person would be more keen to search for answers within. Lastly, the person's manner of speaking and the manner of helping others is going to be very direct and straightforward. I think Ketu does really well, just like Rahu in this Nakshatra, as their actions, Rahu and Ketu's actions are guided by Jupiter. That's my view of Ketu in Punarvasu.
