Planets in Shatabhisha Nakshatra
Introduction
Shatabhisha is ruled by Lord Varuna. Lord Varuna is one of the most feared gods as he's known to punish the sinners. Lord Vishnu is the one who has described the law of nature. He's behind describing what is proper action, what is improper and the ones who disobey the law, it's Lord Varuna's duty to punish them.
Lord Varuna and Justice
So alongside Lord Yama, Lord Varuna is also holding us accountable for our karmas. It is said as per mythology whenever something devious, something improper is planned, Lord Varuna is there to witness it and is going to hold us accountable. In many ways he's the lord of right action just like Lord Mitra is the lord of right speech, honesty, truthfulness. This constellation is composed of 100 stars, which are symbolic of the all-seeing eyes that Lord Varuna possesses. No action escapes his attention and in our world this can translate to industries linked to surveillance and monitoring. Everywhere we see in modern cities you find CCTV cameras, to something more sophisticated as a satellite monitoring our weather or other activities and since he's holding us accountable for our actions, even judges can have very strong Shatabhisha's influence. The native can even be a social activist, a lawyer or a politician. The native may want to set things right in society if something is going wrong.
Go to planets in Shatabhisha →
The native wouldn't stop there. The native would want to bring a change and I'd like to share a great example right away, Che Guevara. In his chart I found Moon in Shatabhisha. Perhaps his sense of justice comes due to this position. He wanted to bring a change, put an end to improper action in his view. There are other combinations in his chart which indicate his warrior-like activities but I'm trying to highlight the Shatabhisha native's style of thinking. The native would always have a strong sense of right and wrong and on seeing something wrong the native would take action. Lord Varuna holds the rank of a king similar to that of Lord Indra which is symbolic of his power and why also is Lord Varuna feared?
Lord Varuna, Secrecy and Specialized Work
Lord Varuna is to be feared by those who have sinned and as per mythology he's also known to afflict the sinners with health issues which might require a metaphorical 100 physicians to cure. 100 comes from the 100 stars which this constellation is comprised of. Lord Varuna is not only holding us accountable for our karmas and punishing us, Lord Varuna is also known for his forgiveness and therefore the ones finding a cure for medical issues have a strong Shatabhisha's influence and I'd like to share a great example. Jonas Salk. In his chart I found Moon in Shatabhisha. He discovered the polio vaccine. Lord Varuna is also known as the lord of the oceans. Now just like the surface of the ocean covers everything that lies beneath, Lord Varuna is also characterized similarly and so the Shatabhisha native would also be someone who would be very difficult to understand. So a bit of secrecy might be linked to the native's character. The native would be a private person and it would not be a bad time for me to disclose this nakshatra's planetary ruler is Rahu. There's always something unconventional about a Rahu-like native. Rahu is also directly linked to scientific inventions which goes along with the medical research sector linked with Shatabhisha which I mentioned earlier.
Staying with this story of Lord Varuna being the lord of the oceans and the surface of the ocean hiding everything beneath. Industries which are also similar where on the surface you don't see anything. It's only through an expert you can understand what is going on. Like a mobile phone for an average user it's very easy and convenient to use. On the surface it seems very easy. It's only an expert who can disclose what is going on. The point I'm trying to highlight is all industries that require specialised skills that only an expert can do what is required. Those industries are linked to Shatabhisha. They can be in the research sector. They can also be highly technical in nature. We must not forget this nakshatra falls entirely in the sign of Aquarius ruled by Saturn. The entire engineering sector is ruled by Saturn.
So it might be the native might say I work in this and this sector. For a lay person it would be extremely difficult to understand the exact nature of one's work. If the ruler of the 10th house falls in Shatabhisha the native's work would be very difficult for a normal person to understand. Previously I'd mentioned the entire surveillance and monitoring sector is linked to Shatabhisha as Lord Varuna possesses an all-seeing eye. I have recently met many individuals who have been working in cybersecurity. Isn't cybersecurity keeping an eye? So cybersecurity is another industry another example linked to Shatabhisha which helps us understand the functioning of this constellation. Since Lord Varuna is the lord of the oceans all professions linked to the oceans are linked directly to Shatabhisha. So the native can be involved in the shipping industry, to being an oceanographer or a captain of a ship. In addition to this the native would also be an expert in the use of chemicals. So the entire chemical engineering sector in my view is also linked to Shatabhisha. I'd like to share how this nakshatra is classified.
Nature and Classification
Firstly this nakshatra belongs to the ones who are involved in research. That's very easy to explain. This nakshatra is all about exploration as Rahu is ruling it and that research can be centred around either medical science to surveillance to chemical engineering sector. This nakshatra further has a classification of Chara which translates to movable which means the native would be very eager to keep moving along particularly on a mental plane. I think movable here is symbolizing movement on a mental plane rather than on a physical plane and that goes along with the research-mindedness associated with this nakshatra. So the person may want to continue to explore, to continue to discover. Now interestingly this nakshatra has the Gana, the temperament belonging to Rakshasa which translates to demonic temperament. This is due to Lord Varuna's duty.
Lord Varuna's duty is to punish the sinners. Punishment naturally carries a sense of extremism as you are depriving the sinner from life in some ways but when a judge passes a sentence there is a sense of justice. Yes but there's also a sense of harshness. That is the point I'm trying to make. So the demonic side linked to this nakshatra is more centred around maintaining law and order rather than the native being the reason behind law and order being disrupted. Furthermore the guna, the quality linked to this Nakshatra is Tamasic which translates to darkness and there are two main reasons. One is the native might have a private life, a secret life and in that introversion the native might resort to addictions. Rahu is linked to addictive behaviour and that can lead the native on a wrong path.
And the second reason could be due to Saturn. With Saturn the native can go to the extreme, even detaching oneself from one's family in pursuit of one's explorations for example. So there has to be something eccentric about the native and that eccentricity may not conform to societal norms and can be seen as darkness, as tamasic. So tamasic here is largely to do with the planetary rulers Rahu and Saturn in my view.
Navamsha Signs
So if you have your Shatabhisha rising you naturally would have an unconventional personality and you'd also be very futuristic. See here this is the last nakshatra ruled by Rahu so a more philosophical side of Rahu would be seen in your character and in addition to this the native naturally would be a private person and I have shared the reasons for that previously. The native would also carry Saturn-like qualities which could also be the reason behind the native being an introvert. The native would fear being charged for one's futuristic ideas and one's unconventional demeanor. A lot would also depend on the pada in which the rising falls in the Navamsha. The Padas would fall either in the sign of Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. So if it's the sign of Sagittarius the native would firstly show signs of an explorer.
This chara nature would be more visible and this sense of justice so strongly linked to Shatabhisha would also be visible in your character. You'd be very passionate, very driven to set things right in the society and you could in pursuit of that go to the extreme as Sagittarius is a fire sign. If it's the sign of Capricorn there would be more Saturn in your character than Rahu so you would be known for your resilience. This never-give-up attitude particularly if you're doing something scientific so you'd be willing to give things time. You'll be more disciplined and organized. If it's the sign of Aquarius this scientific side so strongly linked to Shatabhisha would be seen in your character. It's a case where your scientific ideas and your philosophical thinking might be very prominent and it's also a case where people would find it very difficult to understand you. You know it'll be a case where people might say you know what I met this person but I really don't understand what's going on inside this person and I mean it in a positive way.
I think if it's the sign of Pisces, Jupiter is also playing a part. So not only would you have these scientific ideas and an unconventional demeanor people might be inspired by that and you may even be seen in the society as a teacher as an educator of some kind. Meditation gurus for example can have this position as meditation is all about tapping into the spiritual realm which can only happen in privacy in isolation and privacy and isolation is directly linked to Shatabhisha. Let's now study how different planets behave in Shatabhisha.
Moon in Shatabhisha
Emotional construct
A Moon-in-Shatabhisha individual firstly would be a scientific thinker. It's a case where the person's style of thinking would be very difficult for a normal person to understand. The frequency of one's thinking could only be matched by an expert. So if you are talking about politics the native's viewpoint could only be understood by someone who has been interested in politics for a long time.
So if the native is having a conversation on technology it would only be understood by an expert. The native would also be a private person. The native may not share one's emotions freely or the emotions we commonly express the native may feel shy or may inherently be a private person. Like in birthday parties there are always individuals who are less willing to express emotions whilst there are others who are going along with the mood of the party whilst there are others who are very expressive.
So a Moon-in-Shatabhisha individual would be more private, more reserved. The native would have a strong sense of justice, a strong sense of right and wrong. The demonic side, the Rakshasa temperament linked to Shatabhisha would be visible in your thinking when you see something wrong. So injustice might bring out that aggressive side in you.
This is an excellent position if the native wants to build a future in medical research particularly if moon is ruling your career house. I had earlier shared the example of Jonas Salk. He had Moon ruling the 10th house and placed eight houses away in the fifth house in Shatabhisha. Altogether I find a Moon-in-Shatabhisha individual difficult to understand but a scientist nonetheless.
That's my view.
Sun in Shatabhisha
Leadership and spiritual inclination
When Sun is in Shatabhisha the native could find oneself being a leader in the scientific community firstly. This nakshatra's caste is that of a butcher which is the same caste belonging to researchers and Sun signifies our line of work. The native would carry a strong sense of right and wrong and the native could also be in a leader's position to make sure things function properly, people perform their duty properly, right action. Lord Varuna is the lord of right action, proper action.
The native could also tap into one's spiritual realm with this position. Shatabhisha creates the environment of privacy and isolation and sun represents our soul. Sun does not share a good relationship with Saturn which is the sign ruler and with Rahu too. So the native may find oneself having a very difficult and unusual relationship with authority figures.
The native may feel I am always misunderstood or others question your authority, others mistrust your leadership and lastly I think there would be a sense of mystery centred around the native's profession and personality in some ways. That's my view of sun in Shatabhisha.
Mars in Shatabhisha
Courage and action
A Mars-in-Shatabhisha individual now can be a lawyer, a detective, a police investigator, someone who's responsible for making sure law and order is upheld in the society. Mars also carries the same temperament, rakshasa, as this nakshatra and so the native can be behind extreme measures taken in the society to make sure law and order is maintained. Mars also signifies the entire engineering sector so the technology facilitating maintenance of law and order like the entire surveillance industry can be driven by a Mars-in-Shatabhisha individual. The satellites which offer information on weather which somehow is protecting us or innovative scientific inventions to make sure law and order is maintained from something as simple as face recognition or the government building a cybersecurity framework to protect us.
All of them fall under the purview of Mars and Shatabhisha in my view. One of the major downsides to this position would be going to the extreme whether it's enforcing law or building technology. Mars would be focused on the end goal and here Mars finds itself in the Nakshatra ruled by Rahu so the native would continue to build and continue to act without thinking of the consequences. Now with this position the native would also not make a good team player.
The native would be a one-person army, perhaps even misguided. Again, Mars and Rahu are coming together, so altogether this position is a mixed bag. There are some positives but there are also some very strong negatives to this position. That's my view.
Mercury in Shatabhisha
Intellect and communication skills
When Mercury is in Shatabhisha, the native firstly would be known for one's scientific, original, philosophical, unconventional ideas. The native might be in a profession which requires highlighting the injustices taking place. The native might use the power of pen to set things right in the society. So the native can be very fierce in arguments and so the native can make an excellent debater, a journalist, searching for truth, uncovering injustice, setting things right in society by spreading awareness.
The native can make an excellent data analyst, monitoring information, making sure nothing goes wrong. The native would be known for one's mental capacity, having thought of ideas others haven't thought of. One of the major downsides would be the native would be very quick to express an opinion and may come across as harsh, rude. Altogether I find Mercury in Shatabhisha to be a strong position.
Jupiter in Shatabhisha
Knowledge and exposure
When Jupiter is in Shatabhisha the native's understanding of right and wrong would be unparalleled. Of all the planets in Shatabhisha I think the native here understands what is proper action, what isn't. What is right action, what isn't. Isn't that the main function of Lord Varuna?
He's the lord of right action. So this position can lead to a future in judiciary and here the native would be able to combine philosophy with justice. The native would be able to explain the philosophy of law and order why punishment is a necessary part of making sure law isn't broken. The native would have the wisdom to decide what course of action should be taken to make sure there's security.
What punishment should be given. The native doesn't have to be a judge to be in such a position. The native could be in charge of a company deciding what should be done to an employee who hasn't performed well or who has stolen for example. The native's scientific ideas can be very grandiose and impractical.
However they would be inspirational. So this scientific side linked to Shatabhisha could be one of the most attractive qualities the native would possess. The chara, movable nature of this Nakshatra would be very visible. The native would be an explorer.
The native would be very fond of travel. Jupiter is a significator of travel. The native would be excellent at keeping an eye on things. Which activities require more attention, more monitoring.
The native would have the wisdom to decide that. Like in our country we feel monitoring our borders is more important. In other countries monitoring the supply of food and water is more necessary. So that wisdom comes from Jupiter.
And lastly I think the native could even have the wisdom to understand the future. To understand future trends. So altogether I find Jupiter in Shatabhisha to be a very very strong position. Jupiter, Saturn and Rahu are coming together.
One way or the other the native's work is likely to be scientific in nature. That's my view.
Venus in Shatabhisha
Creativity and love
When Venus is in Shatabhisha, you could be responsible for bringing people together to highlight an injustice of some kind. I think when it comes to money, you'd understand market trends, financial data very well. You'd be able to keep an eye on the markets. Shatabhisha is directly linked to surveillance and it falls in the sign of Saturn.
So Venus-Saturn coming together always somehow leads to a future in risk management, risk assessment that cannot happen without monitoring, analysing information. And in terms of love, it's a case where the native can be on a journey. The native could easily be dissatisfied as Venus now falls in the nakshatra ruled by Rahu. Venus-Rahu's association always leads to some dissatisfaction.
And lastly, your artistic ability would attract attention not only for the artistry but also the unconventionality of the form of art you've come up with. So I'd earlier highlighted that this nakshatra has the guna of darkness, tamasic, and Venus signifies material pleasures. So there's every chance the native can go to the extreme. Venus shares an excellent relationship with Saturn and Rahu so I find this position to be an exciting position.
The creations of the person, the person's interest in life in terms of love, everything would be very fascinating. That's my view of Venus in Shatabhisha.
Saturn in Shatabhisha
Hard work and service
When Saturn is in Shatabhisha the introvert side, the secretive, the private side of Shatabhisha would be most visible. The native could be one of those individuals who's locking oneself behind a closed door to work on one's research. I think a Saturn-in-Shatabhisha native would make the best researchers. The native could be part of a system rehabilitating those who have broken the law.
So the ones who are working in drug de-addiction centres to prison officers. A Saturn-in-Shatabhisha native could be given the responsibility to keep an eye, to monitor the progress. That is what this nakshatra is all about. The native would be an expert in shouldering the responsibility to make sure things keep running properly, smoothly.
In any setup, in an industrial unit, you need professionals making sure quality is ensured. So you monitor quality standards, you monitor the performance of employees. A Saturn-in-Shatabhisha native would do the best job. Saturn also shares a good relationship with the nakshatra ruler Rahu, making this position a strong position in my view.
Rahu in Shatabhisha
The future
When Rahu is in Shatabhisha, I think you'd use technology to run surveillance programmes. Rahu is directly linked to the field of technology and this nakshatra as I've mentioned is all about keeping an eye. Here Rahu finds itself in the nakshatra ruled by itself. So you're very likely to show Rahu-like qualities.
There'll always be something unconventional about you and people would find it very difficult to understand and read you. Your ideas, even though they might be futuristic and scientific in nature, would be very difficult for a normal person to understand. Combinations like these, when Rahu is so strongly involved, can link to the industries of the future. Cybersecurity comes to mind.
More and more professionals now are learning more about it. They're building a future in this sector. So all industries, research-driven of the future, in my view, are related to this position. The native could also discover treatments for long-term health issues.
One of the major downsides would be in pursuit of justice, in pursuit of punishing the sinners, the native can go to the extreme. The native wouldn't know when to stop. So if you are a crime investigator detecting cyber crime, for example, one good thing is that you'll never give up and you'll go to the extreme to find the extent of the fraud. But once you've caught the fraudster, you'd also go to the extreme, making sure the fraudster is punished as severely as possible.
So there's going to be an extreme side to your character. Even though Shatabhisha is centred around a sense of right and wrong, when Rahu falls there, the native can have one's judgment clouded. The native can go after the wrong person. The native may not see what is right, what is wrong.
The native can delude oneself into thinking that this step I'm taking is in the right direction, even though it might be hurting the society. So this is a difficult position. It's not an easy one. The major positive remains that the native can be behind scientific inventions of some kind.
That's my view of Rahu in Shatabhisha.
Ketu in Shatabhisha
Past
When Ketu is in Shatabhisha, not only can the native have a future in research, the native would also use one's intuitive ability to arrive at conclusions. So if it's medical science the native is involved with or chemical engineering, the native would intuitively understand what needs to be done, which action needs to be performed. Just like Rahu in Shatabhisha, with this position too, the native might delude oneself into thinking what I'm doing is right. I think the native would find or discover things which might hurt the society rather than help the society.
Like a scientist discovering a chemical, even though the chemical might have medicinal qualities, the chemical would also be harmful to the society. Since Shatabhisha is all about maintaining law and order and Ketu is all about secrecy, this combination can lead to a future in espionage. The native could also be a military strategist. The major downside would be that the native would go to the extreme.
Go to the extreme to maintain law and order and go to the extreme in punishing the sinners. Like in those old ancient regimes where for a small crime the person was punished severely. So here the idea of justice can be misplaced. Other than this I think the native's intuitive ability would be unparalleled.
That's my view.
