Planets in Magha Nakshatra

Planets in Magha Nakshatra

Introduction

Magha falls in the initial 13 degrees 20 minutes of the sign of Leo, and as per mythology, very interestingly, it's ruled by the ancestors. Magha is ruled by the ancestors. Before we go to the ancestors, I'd like to share some mythology, my understanding. At the dissolution of the world, Lord Vishnu and the seven divine sages known as the Saptarishis remain.

Ancestors and Saptarishis

When the universe collapses, Lord Vishnu and the Saptarishis are responsible for creating another universe. The lifespan of the universe is millions of years. The main focus is the role played by the Saptarishis and Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu, as per my understanding, is the same as the supreme entity who we call as God, and the Saptarishis are known to bestow the knowledge, the divine wisdom, on the basis of which the universe exists. We can place the Vedas in the hands of the divine Saptarishis to explain, and that doesn't necessarily mean that it's any different from right and wrong related teachings belonging to any other religion. The idea is what is wrong and what is right is passed on by the divine sages, and on the basis of that principle, the universe builds itself. From Lord Vishnu is born Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe in one cycle, and from Lord Brahma are born the divine sages. Sage Atri is known to give birth to the planet Moon.

Sage Angiras is known to give birth to Lord Brihaspati. Lord Brihaspati is the divine form of the planet Jupiter and is ruling the Nakshatra of Pushya. Sage Bhrigu is linked to planets Venus, Mercury and Saturn. Mars also is linked to Sage Angiras, and lastly Sage Kashyapa and Goddess Aditi give birth to Sun, the Sun god Vivasvan, and other Sun gods known as Adityas. Sage Kashyapa and Diti are known to give birth to demonic forces. I had in the Nakshatra of Punarvasu explained the birth of Rahu and Ketu. The Sun god Vivasvan and Saranyu give birth to Lord Yama, who's ruling the Nakshatra of Bharani. The Ashwini Kumaras rule the Nakshatra of Ashwini.

They also give birth to Saturn, and lastly they also give birth to King Manu, from whom the human beings were born. The idea behind me sharing this mythology is to give you a hierarchy. Just to have some context, the human race and the ancestors therefore can trace their lineage back either to King Manu and to the Sun gods or to the divine sages. So there are those amongst us who can even trace their lineage back to the divine sages. They are the ones in our society guiding us in the right direction. So spiritual or religious leaders, social workers, people who work selflessly, possibly trace their lineage back to the divine sages. So what happens when we pass away from this world? I'd like to refer to a quotation from the Bhagavad Gita which says, when we pass away in darkness we return, and when we pass away in light we never return.

Go to planets in Magha →

Wisdom, Prosperity and Authority

What is that light? That light is the spiritual wisdom, the divinity inside us, with which we cut our ties with human birth and we rise above and perhaps then join the lineage of the divine sages. Possibly that's how I understand it. What is right and wrong? There's another quotation I'd like to refer to. What is that wisdom? What is that light? This quotation refers to how we either remain in this creation or go below this creation. It refers to lust, anger and greed being three open gates of self-destruction. That is the darkness and it says that we must abandon it in the fire of this wisdom. In the light of this knowledge you must abandon all three. My purpose of sharing this is to simply highlight that there is a world of ancestors and from that world we do return to fulfil our desires from our past lives, that's my view.

However, if we have no desires left, we never return. As per mythology the ancestors wished prosperity in this creation and therefore they have a blessing. Magha translates to a royal throne. People in our society occupying a position of authority and leadership are Magha-linked. Their wish to prosper, to occupy a position of authority gets fulfilled. Magha is all about that. So individuals who are very keen to carry forward their family name, they feel very proud of their ancestors and they feel very proud of what they have done. They want to carry forward that name. A prime example is Donald Trump, his rising Nakshatra is Magha, very keen to carry forward his father's name and living a life of luxury and comfort, living a life of royalty. That's what Magha is all about. You'd find this interesting that this Nakshatra belongs to the caste of Shudra which translates to public service and here I'm referring to public servants occupying the highest office starting from the president to other members of the cabinet to other high-ranking government officials. I'll also include business leaders or anyone occupying a position of a leader in the society.

What happens in the life of a Magha native is that the person gets the opportunity relatively easier than others and can be favoured due to one's family name. We often hear stories of nepotism everywhere, whether it's the corporate world, politics, even sports and due to this the person, the Magha native might develop a sense of entitlement. The person may also feel easily disappointed when the person does not get what one thinks one deserves. This Nakshatra belongs to the nature of Ugra which translates to fierce. I'm representing it with the roar of a lion. You roar. The Magha native is going to roar to convey to the world I am the one in power. That is the nature of Magha and the person is not going to shy away from pushing others down to excel. This Nakshatra has the Gana of Rakshasa. So achieving a position of power, being in authority, leading the charge, doing everything possible to make a name for oneself and to carry forward family's name is what Magha is all about. You must understand the context here. Some of us at the end of our life, we have this aspiration, I wish I was that person.

Nature and Classification

I wish I could have had that position and that in my view is fulfilled in the next life as you're given that opportunity. So there's a reason Magha exists. People who are desperate or who feel they'll find happiness by being an authority figure, they are reborn to experience that. So without having any judgment on what authority figures are up to or how they can even consider pushing others down, without judging that, you must understand there's a reason why this Nakshatra exists.

And if you think of it more deeply, you won't be surprised that this Nakshatra has the Guna of Tamasic, darkness. So you continue with one purpose, to make a name, to be more powerful, you also then destroy your inner peace. You become ungrateful, in some cases even violent, due to the ugra nature. So this can be a difficult position.

Yes, which planet falls in Magha, how the overall birth chart is, everything has to be considered. But my intention is to share an unbiased view of what I think Magha is all about. Ketu is ruling Magha. It shouldn't be of any surprise to you when I say this.

Ketu, the Past and Leadership

As Ketu is all about the past, and I believe our wishes and desires from the past, they come together and create our circumstances in this life. So having Ketu ruling it, which is linked to past life, makes perfect sense. And now very interestingly, the Magha native can be interested in the past. It could be as simple as the native being very fond of history. Historians, in my view, can have a very strong Magha's influence. Like those interesting documentaries we see on the History Channel. Like this civilization had a drainage system, which was very unique, very scientific. Something on those lines. The ones who are studying and building their career in genetics, or the ones who are interested in identifying the history of their ancestors, the ones working in genealogy. Or it can simply be that you're responsible for keeping records of births and deaths in your country. So everything about the past. I also include individuals working in art galleries, highlighting that the artist of the 19th century created this piece of art, or the ones working in museums.

I hope you get the idea. Everything about the past is Magha linked. And you become a leader in that sector. Another example I'd like to give you is of Princess Diana. Her 10th house has Mars and Rahu, both of which fall in the Nakshatra of Magha. I think they are behind her royal connection. Royalty is directly linked to Magha. So if you have Magha rising, I think you'll have a very attractive personality. People would see you as a person having an aura of authority about you. Like you walk into the room and people recognize you. They recognize your authority. Maybe you are wearing a uniform.

You stand out. You seem to be amongst a group as a leader. Like you meet a team and you can intuitively feel, this person must be the captain. That's a Magha-like person. You'd naturally be very inclined to carry forward your family's name. And you would like to carry forward family's traditions. The only downside is that you can be over ambitious and the sense of entitlement that I had mentioned earlier. A lot would depend also on where Ketu is placed, where Sun is placed.

Navamsha Signs

Ketu and Sun, they are the Nakshatra and sign ruler. And you must also see the sign the first house falls in, in the Navamsha. That is the sign of the Pada. The first Pada would fall in the sign of Aries and the person here can become very power hungry. Mars is all about achieving things in the world. So you need to control your aggressive Ugra side more. If the sign is Taurus leading a more royal life, you'd come across as someone representing royalty.

You can be a lover of luxury. I'm generalizing. You must understand I'm limited here in explaining my views as we don't know your chart. I'm referring to this specific combination in isolation. Altogether, if Taurus is the sign which falls in the first, in D9, you are going to have a very attractive personality. If it's the sign of Gemini, I think people find your manner of speaking authoritative. Again, generalizing and your views can also command respect. If it's the sign of Cancer, I think you'll take on the role of the Queen, for example, amongst royalty.

You become more warm in comparison to other Padas, more welcoming, more caring. So that side of Magha would be seen. You must not restrict your analysis to a planet's position in Magha. You must take into account the sign ruler, the Nakshatra ruler and the Pada ruler. But studying the planet-Nakshatra combination in isolation is a good start.

Moon in Magha

Emotional construct

When Moon is in Magha, this sense of entitlement is something you'll have to deal with. You would be easily disappointed when things don't go your way. A practical example is that you were supposed to get promoted, but due to external circumstances, it was denied to you. You may become more disappointed than someone else.

You might feel, no, I feel that this position was meant for me. You would overlook the external circumstances. So a Moon Magha-like person would want to occupy a position of authority quickly and would be suffering from this feeling of entitlement. The person would be a caretaker of family values.

So you may come across as someone who gets the family together to celebrate Christmas, for example, or Diwali. You'd like the family name to grow and prosper. You'd celebrate the achievement of your ancestors, for example, or may arrange a get together on their anniversary of them passing. Amongst careers, you can be an excellent caretaker of any service, like customer care executives, the ones who look after your concerns.

They are providing you a service. Someone who's responsible for managing the public healthcare system is another example. That is the kind of role I see a Moon Magha-like person to play, if Moon is linked to your career. I think you'll naturally be interested in things of the past. You can be interested in history or ancient sciences.

You even may want to connect to the ones who have passed away through some mechanism. Overall, I think you'll possess the aura of a person who's royal or someone in charge. That's the persona you'll project. And I would classify Moon Magha as a strong position, particularly as Moon shares an excellent relationship with the sign ruler, which is Sun.

That's my view of Moon and Magha.

Sun in Magha

Leadership and spiritual inclination

Sun and Magha form one of the most powerful combinations, leading you to be a leader in the society. You're very likely to be an authority figure. Not only you, even your father can be an authority figure. It can be that your father was a business leader, and now you've taken on that responsibility.

So those family-run businesses, in my view, are directly linked to Sun and Magha. Not only businesses, even politics. Someone was the chief minister. The father now passes on the baton to one son.

Your aura would be of a person who's a natural leader. Amongst the group, it wouldn't be difficult to identify that you are leading that group. And people would associate you with consistency and nobility. Those Sun-like qualities would be seen in your behavior.

If I am being promised something by a Sun-Magha person, I would feel the person is going to fulfill that promise. Why? As a sense of duty towards the exchange we've had, yes, but also to keep one's word. The word of a king, essentially, Sun and Magha.

Sun is known to eradicate diseases, and this Nakshatra is directly linked to ancient sciences or medicinal practices from the past, and therefore there can be a common ground there. The person can also have a career in genetics and related fields. Now you must understand this Nakshatra has a demonic temperament and the nature of Ugra, and Sun is the kshatriya, a warrior. So together this can lead to the person being excessively competitive, wanting to be a leader no matter what.

And that is a side of Sun-Magha the person would need to control, in my view.

Mars in Magha

Courage and action

When Mars is in Magha, I find you fighting to be in a position of authority, sometimes excessively. Mars also is known for its Tamasic energy and so is this Nakshatra. And therefore you might fight the unnecessary battle which you might think upon winning you might gain happiness. It's actually reminding me of people who file unnecessary applications against the government, public interest litigators.

The idea is that they'll defeat the government and make a name for themselves. And they pick up a cause which isn't very right. The intention is self-serving. Within the corporate world, a person can challenge one's superiors unnecessarily, just to highlight that you possess the same level of skill or even superior skills.

So this desire might be there to prove your level of skills, your authority. So you might be interested excessively to challenge people. It's also reminding me of the movie Rocky. One of the movies where this person, what's his name?

Clubber Lang. He challenges Rocky, who I think at that time was holding the championship belt. He was the champion. This reminds me of Mars in Magha.

The person is challenging you without having the necessary credentials. My understanding is Clubber Lang wasn't next in line to fight Rocky for championship. The person challenges regardless of procedures. So that's how I would describe a Mars in Magha-like person.

The person may also be fighting to defend one's family name. Certain things can be left as they are. Not everything is worth fighting for. But a Mars in Magha-like person may fight the unnecessary battle to save one's family name, for example.

The person may unnecessarily feel over-aggravated if the family name is questioned. Some people say, why did you question my family? You have sullied my family's name and you take on a big fight. Mars is very entrepreneurial.

Mars also has the necessary skills to excel in any endeavor. In Magha, the person can become very ambitious. You are going to be successful in your endeavors, particularly as I find Mars and Ketu and Mars and Sun share a good relationship. But there's a limit to what you should be chasing in the world.

And in battles, the person can become very uncompromising. Yes, you've started a battle, which could have been avoided. But now the battle has begun. The person is unwilling to compromise.

This combination, therefore, is great for lawyers. Lawyers who are single-minded in their approach. No, I want justice for my client and I want the outcome to be in my client's favor. Very uncompromising, fighting endlessly.

Or the ones working in defense forces. See, every planet, Nakshatra combination has a role in the society. You must not see it negatively. Sometimes you have to become unrelenting, like a test match.

You keep fighting and fighting and fighting until you win. The person may find ways to apply engineering skills or knowledge from the past in some ways. Or you can be a student of genetic engineering, for example. Lastly, again, linked to what I mentioned earlier, the person can continue to fight.

And even on achieving what the person intended to achieve, the person would feel no. The next day, you start planning for your next goal. It's reminding me of something I heard from someone who was in competitive sports, a famous person. And he said that I kept working and working and working for the big day, the day of the competition.

And when I won the competition, the very next day, I started preparing for something else. So a Mars Magha-like person might feel maybe by achieving this, I'll feel happy. But the happiness is also going to be short-lived. So you need to have a purpose.

And you need to think about life more philosophically. If you have Mars in Magha, fight the right battles. That's my view.

Mercury in Magha

Intellect and communication skills

When Mercury is in Magha, I think you'll attract attention for your opinions. Your views might command respect, like an opinion leader or a journalist. People follow what the journalist has written, or there's a news anchor. People look forward to what the news anchor has to say.

If the person says no, the government shouldn't have done it, others follow. That's a Mercury-Magha-like person. So storytelling here is now combined with authority. Like the person speaking in the parliament, the person is telling a story of the concerns the person has about their region, but the person is saying things in such a way that it's captivating and demands attention.

The ones working in public relations, the ones working even in advertising. So any profession which demands that your opinions are heard, I believe, are linked to Mercury in Magha. This combination can also lead to business leadership. Mercury represents the caste of a merchant, and Magha is all about royalty and positions of authority.

So it's likely that you're running a business and carrying forward your family's name. Mercury represents our analytical and logical thinking, and this Nakshatra is very competitive. So the person can be a strategic planner in a different way, different from Mercury in Ashlesha, where the intention is to encircle the opponent. Here the strategy is how to become more popular, how to expand one's influence.

Like a business venture takes on the aim of expanding to different regions. A domestic player becomes a national player. So a Mercury-Magha-like person can be excellent at expanding the influence. Mercury is known to say things without carefully understanding the consequences, and therefore Mercury-Magha together can lead to the native getting into heated debates, particularly on the question of authority or influence.

Like two business leaders debating and saying, no, our products are better, or our services are more widespread. The social media sector is also a prime example where it's driven by the number of followers or the number of people retweeting your message, etc. That's a very Mercury-Magha like activity. People are trying to promote their views, and so you could be an influencer yourself, or you can be in that business of digital marketing, for example.

Your style of conversation will always carry a sense of pride. Perhaps the ancestral pride would be reflected in the way you say things. Not only ancestral pride, it can also be linked to your region or your country for that matter. People speak proudly that I come from that place.

That's my view of Mercury-Magha.

Jupiter in Magha

Knowledge and exposure

When Jupiter is in Magha, your authority and respect in the society comes from your knowledge and perspective. I see Magha directly belonging to professors. I'd also include policymakers in the government sector. You are respected for that.

A politician says we are going to have universal health care. It's a policy. People respect that perspective. Judges are directly linked to Jupiter in Magha or similar roles you are playing in a business, for example, where you are deciding the business's future.

People respect your perspective. Your business philosophy could be that we are going to not use plastic. We are going to expand to other regions. Growth-related strategies in particular are linked to Jupiter in Magha.

You can end up playing the role of someone who's a guide in the lives of your family members. I think you'll have the knowledge and the perspective to inspire your family members and to grow your family's name. From a career point of view, since Magha represents public service, Jupiter represents foreign travel. This is an excellent combination if you'd like to be part of the government foreign service, working in an embassy, for example, in a foreign country or representing the foreign services, travelling often, making a name for yourself.

Ministry of foreign affairs is directly linked to Jupiter in Magha. You could be a teacher of history, anything to do with the past, within medical science. You can be a teacher of genetics, can even be involved in genealogy. The most important aspect of this planetary position is the spiritual inclination one might have from the past.

Jupiter, in my view, symbolises spirituality and right conduct. Due to your past lives, you may have a natural inclination towards spirituality and therefore, the Ugra side of this Nakshatra, the Tamasic side of this Nakshatra and even the demonic temperament is likely to be much better controlled. Jupiter Magha, in my view, is a strong position.

Venus in Magha

Creativity and love

When Venus is in Magha, this is an interesting position. As there's, prima facie, very little ground between love and authority, isn't there? But in love, the person would like to be associated with someone who might be an authority figure. And the person may have a sense of pride that I am dating so and so.

This can also, therefore, lead to some sort of an ego battle in the relationship. I have more authority. I am more of a leader in public life than you are. Those ego tussles might take place if Venus is in Magha.

Venus-Magha is a strong position if you'd like to build your career as an artist. And here, your artistry would lie in reviving things from the past. An ancient form of art then becomes your mainstream work. You pick up a style of painting used in France in the 19th century and that has become your line of work.

Or you put together pieces of art from the past and that's your line of business. Running an art gallery, being associated with museums. It's all Venus-Magha linked, particularly if Venus is linked to your career. This can also lead to you representing the government in the Department of Finance.

So Ministry of Finance, in my view, is directly linked to Venus in Magha. And lastly, this is an interesting one. Venus signifies the pleasure from life we seek. So the pleasure the person might seek is the pleasure of being in a position of authority.

The person can also be very fond of being in the limelight. So you start drawing pleasure from you being reported in the newspaper, people following you. You can fall prey to unnecessary and excessive vanity. That's my view of Venus in Magha.

Saturn in Magha

Hard work and service

Saturn in Magha, the first thing that comes to mind is public service. Saturn belongs to the same caste as Magha, the caste of Shudra, translating to public service. Government work might be your future. Or you can be a social activist.

You can be involved in looking after the elderly, working in old age homes, for example. And here, the family name would be built or one's name would be built after hard work. Magha generally is linked to you receiving favours due to your family's name. But under Saturn, I believe that's going to be hard earned.

It's actually the two opposites. Magha, I would associate with the native gaining due to one's family name, achieving a position due to that. But when Saturn is here, you'll have to work really hard for that. So it might be the case that you only benefit from your family's name late in life.

And you might strive hard to carry forward your family's name. You might have to bear the burden to build that name, even rebuild that name. You'd also try to keep your family's traditions and customs alive. The manner in which you celebrate festivals, or how you go about rituals and ceremonies.

You'd be an expert in anything to do with the past. So if you start studying history, for example, or develop an interest in genetics, with the passage of time, you'll become an expert. So you are going to be someone people might say this person spent 27 years in this field, and has finally reached a stage where people look up to this person's advice. It can also be ancient sciences, something from the past, you worked on it, kept working on it for many years.

And eventually you've become an expert. The major downside to this combination is the Tamasic quality associated with Saturn and Magha. So you are likely to go to the extreme, become single minded, lock yourself behind a door, work tirelessly to build a name. And in the process, you compromise on other aspects of your life.

That's my view of Saturn and Magha.

Rahu in Magha

The future

Rahu in Magha can lead to you having a desire to make a name for yourself. But you would be unwilling to work for it. The sense of entitlement is going to be very strong and you delude yourself into thinking, Oh, I've done enough. And now I deserve this.

Rahu Magha can lead to over ambition, it may also lead to circumstances where you use your family's name inappropriately, like wanting to get an upgrade on a flight. So you use your family's name, perhaps your family is a family of politicians. So you use your family name to gain an advantage. So this feeling that I can use my family's name to better my situation is a delusion a Rahu Magha-like person may carry.

Rahu Magha can lead to someone working in foreign services, similar to Jupiter in Magha. So Rahu in Magha can lead to foreign travel sponsored by the government for exposure, particularly through government service. You could become vindictive if your authority is challenged. If you feel Oh, this position was mine, why was it given to this person, you become vindictive more aggressively and quickly as compared to other planets in this Nakshatra. This is a side you must control.

And a Rahu Magha-like person can also be working towards something you might feel by doing this, I think I'll become very popular, which is very common in the modern world that people create different kinds of content, assuming in three months time, I'm going to become very popular. So you might delude yourself into thinking that this and that is going to lead to popularity. This delusion is something you need to fight. And you must think of life more philosophically.

And lastly, Rahu Magha is a very interesting position as Rahu is about the future. Ketu, which is ruling Magha is about the past. So it might be the case that you present something from the past for the future. A great example I can give you is of this botanical garden.

I heard that they are photographing the samples that they have collected over hundreds of years of plants, for example, they are photographing them. And they are now presenting it online. So samples collected in the past digitally now are going to be shared, combining the past with the future. That's Rahu in Magha.

With the use of technology, Rahu represents technology and you present the past. Overall, Rahu Magha isn't a strong position. But it can lead to innovation and changing the future in some ways.

Ketu in Magha

Past

Ketu and Magha have one very important common aspect, and that's the past. Everything linked to the past is Ketu linked. And that is also linked to Magha. So the person may naturally be drawn to sciences from the past, may naturally be a student of history, may naturally want to know what happened to one's ancestors.

This is an interesting position as Ketu symbolizes loss of identity and Magha symbolizes family and family's name. So in extreme cases, it might lead to the native not knowing one's family, not knowing who the parents were. That happens in some extreme cases. It may also lead to circumstances where family's name is sullied by an event.

Something happened and the name is now called into question. These things happen. We must face reality. We must also accept different situations.

And the person can become revengeful towards the ones who have sullied one's family name. So the Ugra and the demonic side of Magha, if you combine it with Ketu, Ketu is known to be very vindictive. So Ketu Magha-like person can be very sensitive to one's family's name. Like a fight started as someone said something about one's family.

So here you strive to protect your family's name from getting sullied. It's different from Rahu, where the person is trying to build a name for one's family, even doing so through wrong means, creating an image of one's family, which is entirely false. That can happen when Rahu is in Magha. When Ketu is in Magha, you are trying to prevent your family's name being questioned.

And therefore, a Ketu Magha-like person can even be a spy. You are trying to protect your country's name from being destroyed by your enemies. So you're protecting your country. You're protecting your country's name specifically.

The major downside to Ketu in Magha is the tamasic quality associated with both Ketu and Magha. You'll make an effort to protect your family or your family's name or your country's name. But in doing so, you hurt your own self. You sacrifice your own self.

So you go to the extreme when Ketu is in Magha in this duty that you feel that you have towards protecting your family's honour or your country's honour. That's my view of Ketu in Magha.
