Ashwini Nakshatra
This is the first Nakshatra and one of my favourites. As per mythology, it is ruled by the Ashwini Kumaras, whose mythology describes what this Nakshatra is all about.
Ashwini Kumaras respond to our help instantly. They have a high-speed vehicle, and they give the fruits of heaven to us immediately in an emergency.
In an emergency, we call an emergency number and receive assistance. The entire operation of responding to such calls—including the people who travel to help us—is linked to Ashwini. Rescue missions during a tsunami, war or earthquake are examples. We often hear stories of aircraft being allocated for such duties.
Moon in Ashwini
Emotional construct
When the Moon is in Ashwini, the person's natural way of thinking is helpful. I have met someone working in healthcare with the Moon in Ashwini, and through Farfaraway I meet many people whose Moon is in Ashwini, linked to career houses, and who work in healthcare. Moon–Ashwini therefore gives a natural inclination to provide assistance, either in healthcare or social services.
The person may be a problem-solver and an instant solution-provider on the mental plane. Two famous chess players with the Moon in Ashwini illustrate the quick-thinking ability of this placement. It may also give an understanding of business, as some astrologers classify the Moon as belonging to the merchant caste.
Ashwini also belongs to the merchant caste, so the person may understand business and ethical business practices. In my view, the person may also be adventurous and competitive, and may respond quickly with emotions.
The person's thinking may be: ‘I have to help this person and get this done. I have to win that. I have to go on that trip.’ That is likely to be the mindset of a Moon–Ashwini person.
