Conclusions that arrive at once

Ashwini Nakshatra

This is the first Nakshatra and one of my favourites. As per mythology, it is ruled by the Ashwini Kumaras, whose mythology describes what this Nakshatra is all about.

Ashwini Kumaras respond to our help instantly. They have a high-speed vehicle, and they give the fruits of heaven to us immediately in an emergency.

In an emergency, we call an emergency number and receive assistance. The entire operation of responding to such calls—including the people who travel to help us—is linked to Ashwini. Rescue missions during a tsunami, war or earthquake are examples. We often hear stories of aircraft being allocated for such duties.

Mercury in Ashwini

People with Mercury in Ashwini are, in my view, highly analytical and logical and arrive at conclusions immediately. They understand the nature of a problem quickly, as though the answer is already there. This suits professions requiring quick thinking, such as financial advisory, where a high-level conversation about numbers may require an immediate calculation of potential returns.

The same applies to management consultancy. I have met people working in finance with Mercury in Ashwini. A person with this placement may solve mentally challenging problems quickly. While growing up, I also had a habit of wanting to solve mathematical problems very quickly.

My friends and I used to compete over who could solve problems fastest. I do not have Mercury in Ashwini, but I have some Ashwini influence in my chart and can understand this tendency. Mercury in Ashwini wants to solve the problem immediately.

Mercury in Ashwini belongs to a business person. Either the person has an independent business or the person is in a business role in someone else's business like a salesperson, a business head or something similar. Mercury belongs to a merchant and so does this Nakshatra. The person is likely to be very competitive in conversations.

Such conversations would remain within reason and logic. Ashwini has the Deva gana and a forgiving nature, so the person is not necessarily trying to prove others wrong or appear intellectually superior. The aim is to bring the conversation to a logical conclusion.

They can make excellent debaters or spokespersons. The person may nevertheless face issues with authority figures in business. They may say, ‘We have identified the market; let us target it immediately,’ while company leaders may insist on following the proper procedure and first putting a team on the ground.

The person may have spontaneous ideas that translate into immediate action, which can lead to disagreements with the leadership team. If the ruler of the 6th, 10th or 11th house is in Ashwini, the work environment should be intellectually challenging or the person is likely to struggle.
