Hasta Nakshatra

Hasta is one of the most auspicious sections of the sky, and you'll find that out very soon. As per mythology, it's ruled by Lord Savita, and this nakshatra falls entirely in the sign of Virgo. Lord Savita is known to have his arms wide open for anyone who seeks his blessings. That is how he's characterised.

The Gayatri Mantra, considered the most sacred mantra, is dedicated to Lord Savita. In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says that among mantras he represents the Gayatri Mantra, illustrating its divinity. The mantra is:

Om Bhur Bhuvah Swaha Tatsavitur Varenyam Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat

The word Savita refers to Lord Savita, ruler of this section of the sky. One translation is, ‘May we attain the excellent glory of Lord Savita so he may stimulate our prayers.’ Another is, ‘We choose the supreme light of the divine Sun. We aspire that it may impel our minds.’ The stimulation or impelling of the mind describes both Lord Savita and Hasta. He can purify the mind and intellect so that we think more logically, clearly and at an elevated level.

Mars in Hasta

Mars in Hasta can give exceptional technical skill, especially in activities requiring the hands. This may include carpentry, tennis, painting or any other manual skill. It can also lead to medical science or surgery.

Surgical operations require that skill of hands. That is the first thing that occurs to me when I look at Mars' position in Hasta. The other aspect is Mars is fiercely independent and very self-motivated and Hasta is all about having one's future in one's own hands and therefore the native would have this strong desire to achieve independence. The native would be determined to achieve one's goals by one's own self.

Like we hear stories that the person had no help from anyone but the person was determined and the person achieved one's goals. Like the boxer who has no support from one's family but is willing to continue to fight to achieve one's goals in life. That level of determination, fighting against all odds is going to be part of your character if you have Mars in Hasta. Mars is known to take risks and is very entrepreneurial and combined with this nakshatra this can lead to you being behind technical innovations of some kind.

Your creations, your innovations are going to be technically very sound and extremely inspirational to people. Like the design of an iPhone or the design of an umbrella.

Such designs, they act as an inspiration. Others follow their lead. They follow their example that this has been designed like this. This is now the industry standard.

The person may set standards, particularly in manufacturing, a sector linked to Mars. However, although Mars is highly self-motivated, it is not always a strong team player.

Hasta's Rajasic nature can make a Mars–Hasta native excessively competitive. Although Hasta itself is not primarily about competition, Mars can make the person fight over small matters or details.

The person may do everything quickly and prefer a profession requiring rapid movement, such as hockey, tennis or table tennis. Speed and restlessness may therefore become part of the character. That is my view of Mars in Hasta.
