Introduction
Krittika is the third Nakshatra. It falls in two signs, Aries and Taurus, which makes it an interesting constellation. It is also ruled by two mythological gods, Lord Kartikeya and Lord Agni.
This constellation belongs to the nature of Mishra, which translates to mixed. It has the characteristics of a sharp, strong character and, on the other side, a very soft character.
The softer side
Care
The Moon is exalted in this constellation, which highlights the softer, maternal side linked to Krittika. Florence Nightingale is an example. She does not have Krittika rising, but she does have Sun and Moon in Krittika. She is known as the mother of nursing, which highlights the softer, nourishing side associated with this Nakshatra.
Lord Agni
Fire
Krittika is ruled by Lord Agni, the god of fire. The nature is therefore going to be full of passion and energy. The native can also be prone to burnouts and can turn quite vindictive when challenged. When fire burns, it burns incessantly and burns everything inside. There is going to be a strong, sharp side to the native.
As per mythology, Agni accepts food on behalf of the gods. We offer food to fire, assuming that it is going to the gods. Lord Agni is our connection to the world of the gods and is therefore directly linked to divine wisdom.
Wisdom and intellect
Wisdom
Spirituality is linked to this constellation and can also extend to enlightenment. That does not have to be only on the spiritual plane. The individual is an expert, and therefore teachers and educators are seen from this constellation.
Agni is also classified as Tejas, which translates to intellect. The native is therefore likely to be not only well-educated but also highly intelligent.
Lord Kartikeya
Warrior
Lord Kartikeya, who also rules this constellation, is described as the commander of the celestial army. The native will therefore have a very warrior-like side.
Interestingly, Lord Kartikeya was raised by six mothers. This Nakshatra therefore has a strong, soft and maternal side. Lord Kartikeya defeated demons at a very young age, and so the native would be undaunted by challenges and highly competitive.
Leadership
Leadership
Krittika’s planetary ruler is the Sun, which signifies leadership. Lord Agni is described as the leader of the Vasus, who have sovereignty over Earth, and Lord Kartikeya is known as the commander of the celestial army. Leadership is therefore strongly linked to Krittika.
This is particularly true if Krittika rising falls in Aries, where the planets involved will be Mars, Sun and Jupiter. Jupiter is involved because the first pada falls in Sagittarius in the Navamsha. The individual is likely to be a motivator or an inspirational figure of some kind.
Even when it falls in Taurus, the individual is going to have leadership qualities. However, the person’s leadership ability in Taurus is likely to be more creative in nature.
Fire and craftsmanship
Craft
Any profession that requires the use of fire is linked to this constellation, and therefore so is craftsmanship. Krittika is a very interesting constellation. The native is going to have many shades to their character.
