Will you marry a foreign spouse?

Introduction

I am going to share combinations in your birth chart that indicate you are likely to attract a foreign spouse. I would like to start by defining foreign. It could mean that your partner belongs to a foreign culture, a foreign country or both.

The foreignness can also be due to an unconventional choice. You might marry someone significantly younger or older than you, someone who was married before, or you may choose to marry again. I also include relationships which do not conform with societal norms, such as a same-sex marriage, within this extended meaning of a foreign spouse.

Marriage analysis roles

While you are trying to predict your time of marriage, the characteristics of your partner or the quality of your married life, we take into account the following factors: the seventh-house ruler, the Darakaraka, Venus, planets placed in the seventh house and planets aspecting the house of marriage. All of these are taken into account whilst predicting the time of marriage.

When trying to understand a partner’s characteristics, consider the ruler of the 7th house and the Darakaraka, while recognising the different role each factor plays. Venus signifies desire and whom you are drawn to, so in my view it has a different function from the 7th-house ruler and the Darakaraka.

Lastly, the planets placed in or aspecting the seventh house help determine the quality of married life.

Read quality indicators carefully

What exactly is taking place in marriage? For example, if you find Sun's position there in the house of marriage, it can be that ego issues keep coming in the way. It might be that you are yourself unable to control your egotistical side, or you may run into a partner who is very egoistic. If Mars is there, for example, in the house of marriage or is aspecting the house of marriage, the couple may keep getting into arguments, or perhaps even competing unnecessarily and unhealthily with one another. If Saturn is there, there is likely to be late marriage.

If Ketu is there, the person may have to wait for marriage until the time the person has built one's individuality. I have shared Saturn- and Ketu-related combinations in my lesson on how to predict the time of marriage. When Rahu is associated with the house of marriage, there is a very high possibility that you may attract a foreign spouse.

If the house of marriage is associated with the ninth or twelfth house in some way, this also indicates that you are likely to attract a foreign spouse. Let us study these combinations in more detail.

Calculate Rahu influence

The first combination is Rahu being the ruler of the house of marriage, which would be the case if you were born as a Leo ascendant. The second is Rahu placed in the house of marriage. Thirdly, Rahu placed in the third or eleventh house would aspect the house of marriage.

If we calculate the probability of Rahu's influence through rulership, placement or aspect, it is five by sixteen: one by twelve for the ascendant, and, for the other eleven ascendants, Rahu occupying one of three places. Approximately 31% of individuals might therefore have Rahu's influence over the house of marriage.

Rahu links in main and Navamsha charts

There are more Rahu-related combinations. Rahu in conjunction with Venus is a strong indication that you might desire a partner who is foreign to you. You may also be desirous of an alternative lifestyle. Rahu in conjunction with the seventh-house ruler or the Darakaraka gives further indications that your partner can be foreign. Please also study the Navamsha chart.

Look for Rahu ruling the house of marriage in the Navamsha, occupying the house of marriage there, sharing a sign with Venus, or sharing a sign with the ruler of the house of marriage or the Darakaraka. We are not studying aspects in the Navamsha chart. These Rahu-related combinations can indicate a foreign spouse.

Please keep in mind that a foreign spouse does not only mean a partner who comes from a different culture. It can also mean the other possibilities described earlier. Let us now study the role of the ninth and twelfth houses.

Connect ninth and twelfth houses

The ninth house has to do with foreign cultures and the twelfth house has to do with foreign lands. If the house of marriage is linked to the ninth or twelfth house, you may be with a foreign partner.

If Venus, the ruler of the house of marriage or the Darakaraka is placed in the ninth or twelfth house in the main chart or Navamsha, the probability is high that your partner can be foreign. The same applies if any of these factors is conjunct the ninth- or twelfth-house ruler in the main chart, or occupies the same Navamsha sign as either ruler.

Count from the seventh house

If the ruler of the seventh house is placed in either the third or sixth house, this also indicates that the partner can be foreign. Counting nine places from the seventh house takes you to the third house, so a seventh-house ruler in the third applies the same logic as the ninth house and foreign cultures. Counting twelve places from the seventh house takes you to the sixth. I found this combination in the life of Srinivasa Ramanujan.

He had the ruler of the seventh house placed twelve places away in the sixth house. Even though his partner was not foreign, he had to move away from his home country to build his career, creating a temporary physical separation. The twelfth-house association could also mean a temporary physical separation in your relationship. There has to be a foreign element associated with the marriage: either your partner comes from a foreign country or you move abroad after marriage.

The 12th house association can have multiple interpretations. The ninth house association can also mean that you've met your partner through an institute of learning. For example, you go abroad for studies and you meet someone there.

Add rulership and Nakshatra links

I have a few more combinations. If Venus or the Darakaraka is the ruler of the ninth house or the 12th house, this could also indicate a foreign partner. Furthermore, if you were born as a Taurus or a Scorpio ascendant, then the ruler of the seventh house and the 12th house is going to be the same planet.

For a Taurus ascendant, it's going to be Mars. For a Scorpio ascendant, it's going to be Venus. In that scenario too, the partner can be foreign.

Lastly, if the seventh-house ruler, the Darakaraka or Venus is placed in a Nakshatra ruled by Rahu, this can also lead to a foreign partner. I have now shared all possible combinations and will apply them in the following examples.

Matt Damon example

The first example is Matt Damon. In his chart, Moon is the ruler of the house of marriage and Mercury is the Darakaraka. If you are trying to assess who a person's partner can be, always study the lord of the seventh house and the Darakaraka.

Moon is in the twelfth house and Mercury in the ninth. In the Navamsha chart, I find Moon in the ninth and Mercury in the twelfth. The lord of the seventh house and the Darakaraka therefore have a very strong association with the ninth and twelfth houses, which indicates that he is likely to attract a foreign partner. The Darakaraka is also the ninth-house ruler, while Moon, the ruler of the house of marriage, shares a Navamsha sign with Rahu. His wife was born in Argentina.

He married on 9 December 2005 at the age of 35. The ruler of the house of marriage is in the same sign as Saturn in the D9 chart, which, in my view, is the reason for late marriage. In my lesson on predicting the time of marriage, I specifically mentioned Rahu and Venus phases.

He was married under Rahu's Mahadasha and Venus's Antardasha. It's even more significant in his case as Venus in his chart is also the ruler of the house of marriage in the D9 chart. In fact, right throughout this Rahu and Venus's phase, he was in a relationship with his wife and then within this Venus's Antardasha he was married and I hope this example made sense.

George Clooney's partner profile

The next example is George Clooney. In his chart, both the ruler of the house of marriage and the Darakaraka are Moon. When the seventh-house ruler and the Darakaraka are one planet, it becomes easier to identify who the person is likely to attract. Moon is in the first house in Uttara Ashadha. Moon and Uttara Ashadha together, in my view, indicate that the partner can be a social worker.

If you go through the meaning of Moon and the Nakshatra of Uttara Ashadha, I've posted a lesson on that Nakshatra on this site, you'll understand why have I arrived at this conclusion. if we study Uttara Ashadha's planetary ruler, its Sun, and Sun in his chart is there in the Nakshatra of Bharani, this is an indication that his partner can be a lawyer, as law is directly related to Bharani. please try to understand the methodology too. I have started from the ruler of the house of marriage, I've studied its Nakshatra, and now I'm studying its Nakshatra's planetary ruler, which is Sun, Sun Bharani. This to me is an indication that the partner can come from a background in law.

Moon in the Navamsha chart is in the eleventh sign in the seventh house. This indicates that the partner's work can be humanitarian. We know that his partner is a human rights lawyer, and I hope the analysis so far has made sense.

Amal Clooney and marriage timing

Why is his partner foreign to him? We know that she was born in Lebanon. I find Rahu as the ruler of the house of marriage in the Navamsha, while Moon and the twelfth-house ruler are conjunct in the main chart. If we study his partner's characteristics, Moon and Saturn form a conjunction and occupy the same sign in the D9 chart.

This indicates a tall, lanky person, which is a very Saturn-like physical trait. Since Moon is the ruler of the house of marriage, the partner is also going to show Moon-like qualities: a charming, attractive face along with a tall, lanky build. He was married in late September 2014 and has combinations for late marriage. Saturn rules the house of marriage in the Navamsha and also aspects the house of marriage in the main chart.

He was married right at the end of Jupiter's Mahadasha. In my lesson on predicting the time of marriage, the first thing I mentioned was to check whether a person is approaching a Mahadasha change. Jupiter was also transiting over the house of marriage. These factors explain why his partner is who she is, why she is foreign, why he married late and why he married at that particular time.

Older and younger partner indicators

I'd like to now share some combinations which signify the partner can be significantly elder to you. If the Darakaraka or the seventh house ruler is Saturn, or if Venus, the seventh house ruler or the Darakaraka are placed in the Nakshatra ruled by Saturn. The Nakshatras ruled by Saturn are Pushya, Anuradha and Uttara Bhadrapada. Or if the seventh house ruler Venus or the Darakaraka is placed in the Nakshatra of Jyeshtha. Jyeshtha has been described as the eldest as per Vedic mythology. all of these combinations could indicate that your partner can be significantly elder to you.

Similarly, let's study a few combinations which indicate that your partner might be younger to you. If the seventh house ruler or the Darakaraka is either Mercury or Mars. Or if the seventh house ruler Venus or the Darakaraka are placed in Nakshatras ruled by Mercury and Mars. Mercury and Mars indicates youthfulness. lastly, if the seventh-house ruler, the Darakaraka or Venus is in the Nakshatra of Ashwini. As Ashwini also signifies youthfulness. together these combinations could indicate that your partner can be significantly younger than you.

Roger Federer example

In Roger Federer's chart, both the ruler of the house of marriage and the Darakaraka are Saturn, which is in the second house in Hasta. Hasta is directly linked to tennis players because any profession requiring skill of the hands is related to Hasta. This helps explain why his partner was also a tennis player. Why is she foreign to him? She was born in Slovakia. Rahu rules the house of marriage in the main chart, while Saturn, which rules the house of marriage, and the ninth-house ruler occupy the same sign in the D9 chart. Together these indicate that his partner can be foreign. Saturn as the ruler of the house of marriage also indicates an elder partner, which we find in his case.

If you study his date of marriage, he was married on 11 April 2009. that time Saturn was transiting over the Nakshatra of Purva Phalguni. From early February, the same year Saturn began its transit over this Nakshatra. this is unique as Saturn's transit over any Nakshatra comes after 30 years. Saturn's strong association with the house of marriage and its transit over Purva Phalguni is the reason behind his date of marriage. I hope this made sense.

Emmanuel Macron's partner profile and timing

Emmanuel Macron is married to someone more than twenty years older than him. His house of marriage is ruled by Moon and the Darakaraka is Sun. Moon is in the fourth house in the main chart and Sun is in the fourth house in the Navamsha. This strong fourth-house association indicates that his partner could belong to his home culture, as the fourth house has to do with our cultural upbringing. It also has to do with school education.

They met in a school, where his partner was his teacher. Moon is in Bharani, which is ruled by Venus, while Moon in the Navamsha is in Libra, also ruled by Venus. Sun is in Mula in the main chart and Taurus, ruled by Venus, in the Navamsha. The lord of the seventh house and the Darakaraka are therefore placed in a Nakshatra and signs ruled by Venus, linking Venus very strongly to his partner.

Venus's position in Jyeshtha, which signifies the eldest, is my reason why his partner is significantly older than him. He was married in late October 2007 and does not have any major combinations for late marriage. He was married under Mars Mahadasha and Venus Antardasha. Mars is in the seventh and Venus in the eleventh. Venus, the seventh house and the eleventh house together created a strong possibility of marriage.

His time of marriage therefore makes sense. Venus rules his career house and is present in the eleventh house in Jyeshtha. The eleventh house and Venus together signify money, indicating a career in finance. Before he became a politician, he was a general inspector of finance and later worked as an investment banker. I also studied his partner's chart.

Brigitte Macron's chart

She has Saturn as the ruler of the house of marriage and Sun as the Darakaraka. Sun is in Ashwini and Aries in both the main and Navamsha charts. This strongly indicates that her partner was always going to be a person who occupies a position of power, a political figure. Sun is exalted in Ashwini. Sun, the Darakaraka, in Ashwini and Aries, together with the ruler of the house of marriage placed in Chitra, ruled by Mars, indicate to me that she was going to attract a partner significantly younger than her.

Rahu is the ruler of the house of marriage in her chart, indicating that she was likely to have a foreign experience in her personal life. She was married before, which is the foreign experience she had. Her first marriage took place under Venus Mahadasha and Rahu Antardasha in 1974, which makes sense because Rahu rules the house of marriage in her main chart.

In late August 2007, when she was about to begin Rahu Mahadasha, she married Emmanuel Macron. The beginning of Rahu's Mahadasha indicates a new life chapter for her, particularly in her personal life, because Rahu rules the house of marriage.

There is also a placement in her career house in Krittika. This specific combination belongs to educators and indicates why she previously worked as a school educator.

Catherine Zeta-Jones

Catherine Zeta-Jones is another example. She has Venus as the seventh house ruler. Moon is the Darakaraka. Venus, incidentally, is also ruling the twelfth house. she is a Scorpio ascendant. This already is an indication that her partner can be foreign to her. Venus and Rahu, incidentally, are together in the Navamsha chart and Moon, which is the Darakaraka, is the ninth house ruler. These are indications that her partner is likely to be foreign to her. She was born in Wales and her partner was born in the United States.

Moon in her chart is in the Nakshatra of Uttara Bhadrapada and Moon and Saturn are together in the Navamsha chart. Saturn's influence on the Darakaraka, in my view, is the reason why her partner is significantly elder to her. If we study Venus and Moon's position in her chart in the main and the Navamsha, Venus is in the fifth sign, Leo, in the main chart. Moon, the Darakaraka, is in the fifth sign, Leo, in the Navamsha. This is an indication that her partner can come from an artistic background. Acting is directly related to the sign of Leo.

This gives us an insight into who her partner could be. We all know she married a film star in late November 2000. At that time, Jupiter and Saturn were transiting over the house of marriage. Jupiter also aspects the house of marriage in her chart, which, in my view, created an opportunity for marriage. Jupiter and Saturn's transit over any house comes after many years, making this a unique transit which created the possibility of marriage for her.

Michael Douglas's chart

I also looked at her partner's chart, Michael Douglas. The house of marriage is ruled by Mars and Venus is the Darakaraka. Mars and Venus are both placed in Chitra, ruled by Mars. The seventh-house ruler and the Darakaraka being placed in a Nakshatra ruled by Mars strongly indicate that he was likely to attract a partner significantly younger than him. Venus is also in a sign ruled by Mars, providing another indication of a younger partner. The seventh-house ruler in the twelfth house indicates that he could attract a foreign partner, which is the case. They married in late November 2000.

He married right at the beginning of a Rahu and Venus phase. Venus is his Darakaraka and also rules the house of marriage in the Navamsha. A Rahu and Venus phase can be a time when a person wants to fulfil one's desires and may give in to desire. I therefore specifically mentioned this as a very promising phase for marriage, as we all desire companionship. I hope this explains why he chose to marry at that time.

Michael Caine's two marriages

Michael Caine is another example. He has Jupiter as the ruler of the house of marriage and Sun as the Darakaraka. Jupiter is in Purva Phalguni and Sun in Purva Bhadrapada. Jupiter is in the first house and Sun, the Darakaraka, is in the ninth house in the Navamsha. Why did he attract a foreign partner? Venus in his main chart, which remains a natural signifier of a wife in a man's chart, is in the ninth house and conjunct Rahu. This indicates that he desired a foreign spouse. Jupiter, the seventh-house ruler, is in the third house in the main chart, nine places away from the seventh. Sun, the Darakaraka, is in the ninth house in the Navamsha. Together, these indicate a foreign partner.

Venus and Rahu's conjunction could indicate that the person is unable to find a suitable partner the first time around, or perhaps desires another partner later. He first married at 21 in early April 1954, right at the beginning of Jupiter's Mahadasha. He later married on 8 January 1973.

At that time, Sun, Mercury, Venus and, most importantly, Jupiter and Rahu were all transiting over the seventh house. The transit of five planets over the house of marriage around that specific date created a possibility of marriage for him in 1973.

Priyanka Chopra example

Priyanka Chopra has Mars as the ruler of the house of marriage and Sun as the Darakaraka. Mars and Sun indicate that the partner she is likely to attract can have a medium-sized body and not be very tall. Moon in her chart is in the first house in Rohini, indicating that she is going to be very attractive, as Rohini is considered the most beautiful Nakshatra. Mars is in Chitra in the main chart and Virgo, ruled by Mercury, in the Navamsha. These indicate that her partner can be younger than her.

Why did she attract a partner who is foreign to her? She was born in India and her partner was born in the United States. Mars, the seventh-house ruler, also rules the twelfth house because she is a Taurus ascendant. The seventh-house ruler is conjunct the ninth-house ruler, Saturn, which is also the reason behind late marriage. The Darakaraka and ninth-house ruler are together in the Navamsha. I also find the ruler of the fourth house placed twelve places away, indicating that she was going to build her life, and her home in particular, permanently in a foreign land. Together, these explain why her partner could come from a foreign country and why she might build her home there.

She married on 1 December 2018 at the age of 36. Saturn is conjunct the seventh-house ruler and also aspects the house of marriage, which explains why she married late. She married under Jupiter and Venus Antardasha. Venus Antardasha is always a promising phase for marriage. At that time, Jupiter, Sun and Mercury were transiting over the house of marriage, creating the possibility of marriage.

Ellen DeGeneres

The last example is Ellen DeGeneres. Rahu is present in her ninth house, which indicates that she can have an unconventional belief system. This, in my view, is the main reason behind her homosexuality. When she openly declared that she was gay in April 1997, she was going through Rahu Antardasha. I can understand why she would have felt the need to declare her sexual preference openly during Rahu Antardasha.

She has Sun as the ruler of the house of marriage and Mars as the Darakaraka. Sun is placed in the twelfth house with Venus, and Sun is conjunct the ninth-house ruler, which is Venus. These strongly indicate that her partner can come from a foreign country. Her partner was born in Australia. Why was her partner younger? Mars is the Darakaraka, and Mars and the ruler of the house of marriage are together in Aries in the Navamsha, ruled by Mars. This indicates that her partner could be very Mars-like and youthful in character. That is my reasoning for why she attracted a significantly younger partner.

She married at the age of 50 in mid-August 2008. The reason for late marriage is Saturn's presence in the tenth house. The person feels that their career takes so much time that there is no time for a relationship, let alone marriage. This, in my view, is the reason behind late marriage. She married under Mars Mahadasha and Saturn Antardasha.

On the day of marriage, Saturn was transiting over Purva Phalguni. Saturn's aspect over the house of marriage, Saturn Antardasha and Saturn's transit over Purva Phalguni and the house of marriage together created a strong possibility. Four other planets, including Venus, were also transiting over the house of marriage that day, creating a very strong possibility of marriage.
