What Venus Represents in Your Birth Chart
Introduction
What is the story of Venus? What does Venus represent, and how does its energy manifest in our life? Let’s have an overview of what Venus represents. The first thing that comes to my mind is that Venus represents beauty: natural beauty or man-made beauty that you see outside with your eyes.
That’s a gift from Venus. It’s these Venus-related qualities that we have that inspire us to create something beautiful. This is not only about faces and objects, but also people who are the center of attraction and have a very refined personality. They have social grace. They can have a strong Venus influence in their charts.
Creativity, Money, Luxury and Love
Desire
Beauty is inspired by creativity. So naturally Venus is linked to creativity and the entire world of music, art, entertainment and the media sector. All of them are linked to Venus.
Venus is also a signifier of money. The extent to which you might experience a life full of luxury and comfort can be determined by Venus. Not only that, Venus might also create the desire for living such a luxurious life, the desire for money.
So the strength of Venus can signify what kind of a life, particularly on a material plane, you are going to live. Any prized possession that you have, that you feel has high material value, is linked to Venus.
The most important aspect, I believe, linked to Venus is love, romance, love affairs and the kind of love affairs that you might be in. It is also your perception about love. What is your philosophical view about love?
Shukracharya and a Philosophy of Material Life
Philosophy
Venus, incidentally, is known to be the planetary form of Lord Shukracharya. Lord Shukracharya, along with Lord Brihaspati, are known to be two teachers.
So Venus has this side where you have a bit of a philosophy, and that philosophy can be centered around how to enjoy life on a material plane. Think of people who work tirelessly and feel, “One day I’ll buy an island and live on the beach.” That is their philosophy of how to live life on a material plane.
Similarly, when it comes to love, your philosophy on love could be determined by Venus’s position. Venus also represents a life partner in a man’s chart.
The Overlooked Qualities of Venus
Compassion
The other aspects of Venus are often overlooked. Venus is known to bestow upon us natural diplomatic skills, public-dealing skills and the art of negotiation. Not in a clever way, but through natural charm, you get the opposing party to agree to your terms.
The other quality that often gets overlooked is compassion. I think Venus can bestow upon us this natural sense of empathy, unconditional love and genuinely feeling pain for the ones who are suffering. Venus can bestow upon us these qualities.
Theoretically speaking, if a person has a strong Venus influence in their chart, they might also have Venus-like physical traits.
Now let’s see how this Venus energy is going to manifest in different constellations, in different Nakshatras.
Kim Kardashian and Narendra Modi: Venus in Purva Phalguni
Glamour
Let me start with the first example: Kim Kardashian. We started this discussion on Venus and what it means, and I mentioned it represents beauty, a refined personality and attractiveness. Venus in her chart is in the tenth house in the constellation of Purva Phalguni.
Purva Phalguni is also directly linked to the world of beauty, glamour and fashion. Venus, incidentally, is ruling Purva Phalguni, and she has Venus in her chart in the tenth house, linked to her public life, in Purva Phalguni. I think this combination doesn’t need any explanation.
If you put two and two together, her identity as a personal brand known for her beauty and sense of fashion is because of Venus’s position in the tenth house.
For all those who are from India, just like me, you might find it fascinating that Narendra Modi, the current Indian Prime Minister, shares this combination with Kim Kardashian. He also has Venus in Purva Phalguni. I think it’s because of this planetary combination that he has this love for taking a selfie. You know, he’s very camera-friendly. That might be the reason.
Venus’s energy does manifest in a certain way when it falls in different Nakshatras.
Coco Chanel: The Magnetic Pull of Ashlesha
Magnetism
Another example I’d like to take with you is from the world of fashion: Coco Chanel. In her case, I find Venus in Ashlesha. She, in my view, because of this combination, would have this magnetic appeal about her.
But what would that magnetic appeal be all about? Ashlesha’s constellation is ruled by Mercury, and Mercury further in her chart is in Purva Phalguni. Purva Phalguni, as earlier mentioned, is linked to the world of fashion and glamour, and Mercury signifies business.
Venus in Ashlesha gives her that magnetic appeal. If in your chart you have Venus in Ashlesha, I’m very sure this energy has manifested in some manner. You might be known to have an attractive personality, no matter where Venus is placed in your chart.
So you see here, Venus in Purva Phalguni makes an individual known as a personal brand. Venus in Ashlesha gives the individual a magnetic pull. When Mercury is in Purva Phalguni, it’s in the realm of business in the world of fashion.
Oprah Winfrey: Listening, Empathy and Service
Listening
Let’s look at another interesting aspect of Venus. As earlier mentioned, Venus bestows upon us a sense of empathy and compassion. This is visible in the birth chart of Oprah Winfrey. In her case, I find Venus in the constellation of Shravana.
Those who know about Shravana would know a Shravana native is known for their listening ability. A sense of calm is associated with them.
Combine this with Venus’s qualities of being able to deal with people in a charming manner and also listen to their concerns patiently—that’s Shravana—and do it in a manner which is therapeutic and service-linked in some way. That is what The Oprah Winfrey Show was all about.
Where is the service element coming from? The constellation of Shravana is ruled by Moon, and Moon in her chart is in Anuradha. People with Anuradha’s influence have spoken about having a background in public service.
So she used her Venus-related qualities to serve people, but this happened in the world of art and entertainment—that’s Venus-linked. Her role there was Shravana-linked: managing the flow of conversation, retaining a sense of calm, listening patiently and communicating effectively.
These are all qualities a Venus-in-Shravana native can have. Through these examples, I have demonstrated how Venus’s energy can manifest in different Nakshatras.
