Uttara Bhadrapada is the 26th Nakshatra, occupying 3 degrees 20 minutes to 16 degrees 40 minutes of Pisces.
Lord Ahirbudhnya and Uttara Bhadrapada
He is one of the 11 Rudras. He was born of the waters. He’s known to be the serpent of the atmosphere, the cloud serpent, or the dragon of the deep ocean. Such depictions indicate how domineering, savage, and cruel this nakshatra could be due to its rulership by a serpent. But Lord Ahirbudhnya's fierceness is within reason. He also represents the dark, thunderous rain clouds that produce torrential downpours and floods. However thunderous the clouds may be, their waters always nourish, symbolising his sensitive nature. The Uttara Bhadrapada native would be ambitious and driven but not self-serving, and would overcome adversaries without putting them down. The native would be wise, reasonable, compassionate and empathetic, would tolerate the ebbs and flows of life and would shoulder the ensuing responsibilities maturely. The native would be an archetypal wise old person. It's worth mentioning that Saturn, the planet known to bestow such personality traits, is the ruler of this nakshatra. This is the third and final nakshatra ruled by Saturn. The best of Saturn is experienced here. The native would not act in haste, would excel in long-term projects and would not shy from one's responsibility/one's duty. The slow-moving nature of Saturn makes the native suited to jobs requiring limited physical mobility, such as those of a bank manager or security guard. But Saturn's rulership and Lord Ahirbudhnya's depiction as a cloud serpent indicate that the native would hold on to one's possessions and cling on to relationships longer than one should. The native may become comfortable too quickly, lack the motivation to change and fall prey to lethargy. Such self-destructive behaviour explains why this Nakshatra possesses the Tamasic guna, associated with darkness. The Uttara Bhadrapada native would go through spells of darkness/dramatic circumstances, which symbolize karmic purification of some kind. The native would find oneself much wiser on the other side of such experiences. The back legs of a funeral cot are the main symbol of Uttara Bhadrapada, depicting the elevation of one's soul on a spiritual plane and the beginning of a new life form. This Nakshatra lies within Pisces, so the native would naturally be driven towards spirituality and by the heart, and would be intuitive, creative and imaginative. Mercury, a planet that relishes quickness, is debilitated here. Careers that operate on a high philosophical plane are suited to the native. Counsellors, photographers, writers, composers, dancers, researchers, healers, religious leaders, astrologers, spiritual guides and yoga teachers are therefore seen from this Nakshatra. All seafaring professions too are linked to this nakshatra. This Nakshatra combines the energies of Saturn and Jupiter, resulting in the native being philosophical, reliable and responsible.
